Špindler's Mill
Hotel Palace
At the end of summer, we completed a beautiful project of covering the Hotel Palace in Špindlerův Mlýn. It is a roof structure combining segmented arched mansard trusses made of S4S wood and a classic truss made of glued BSH profiles. The segments of the upper chords of the trusses and the arched rafters of the ridge are machined to an exact arched shape using a CNC machine from Hundegger, according to the original roof structure. After assembling all the elements of the roof structure onto the ceiling slabs in two levels, the desired bell-shaped form is achieved. Expressed in numbers, this involves 259 trusses assembled from a total of 2338 individual pieces in a total volume of 20 m3 and 438 elements of the classic truss with a volume of 22 m3. The hotel is being reconstructed according to the original architectural appearance on the southwestern slope of Špindlerův Mlýn and can be observed from the main road since the Labská reservoir.
